Justice is a Lady Lawyer: Suzanne Burnett

|

Finding the right lawyer is hard. Clients may spend countless hours searching for the right attorney to represent a loved one or themselves.

In what was once, and still is, a heavily male-dominated field, female trial lawyers can be hard to come by, but Potter Burnett Law is proud to have Suzanne Burnett in their pride.

Consistently defending the rights of the vulnerable, Suzanne Burnett is there when you need her most. She focuses solely on personal injury matters—primarily car crashes, premises liability, and nursing home abuse and neglect cases.

Suzanne is a Maryland native who grew up in Baltimore City. She briefly left Maryland to attend Virginia Tech where she studied Political Science and Professional Writing and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude. Suzanne then moved back to Baltimore City and continued her studies at The University of Baltimore School of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude.

After finishing law school, Suzanne moved to Annapolis and began her career as a Judicial Law Clerk for The Honorable Laura S. Kiessling in the Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County (now Judge Ripken). After completing her clerkship, she joined a firm working alongside her current law partner, Debbie Potter, and practiced solely personal injury Plaintiff’s work. During that time, Suzanne gained extensive litigation experience representing injured individuals against big business insurance companies.

In 2012, after practicing law for only two years, The Daily Record of Maryland honored Suzanne as a “Top Twenty in their Twenties” Award recipient for her professional accomplishments and service to the community. This is a prestigious award that shows how focused she has been from the beginning.

Today, Suzanne serves on the Anne Arundel Bar Association’s Board of Trustees (AABA) as Secretary and is on the leadership track for the organization.  Furthermore, she is an active member of the Prince George’s County Bar Association, The Maryland Association for Justice, and is a recent member of The National Women Trial Lawyers Association.  Suzanne understands that active and meaningful participation in the legal community organizations is key to the successful practice of law.

She has also been recognized by SuperLawyers with the reveled distinction of ‘A Rising Star’, The National Trial Lawyers as a “Top 40 Under 40” Award Recipient yearly since 2013 as well as receiving the President’s Award from the Anne Arundel Bar Association in 2018.

When representing clients, Suzanne is passionate about getting to know each client’s unique story that will set their case apart.  Suzanne’s in bringing critical facts to light while also appealing to a sense of compassion and empathy. Being a natural listener, she takes the time to hear what her clients have to say.  An attorney who listens to her clients is far more likely to pick up on an important piece of information that could help that client’s case than an attorney who only half-heartedly communicates.

This is one of the many reasons that clients are comfortable with her demeanor and appreciate her dedication to fully understanding the full extent of what they may be going through, both mentally and physically.

Suzanne prides herself on getting the best possible outcome for all personal injury matters. She has always had a strong passion for helping people and it shows through her thoroughness and devotion to clients as well as her ease with connecting to people inside and outside the courtroom.

Suzanne, along with the other attorneys of Potter Burnett Law, works to revolutionize the way you experience the entire legal process. Our legal team truly understands the importance of standing by your side.
